Frequently asked

Where do my compressed videos end up?

In your Photos library, right next to the originals. The app never moves or changes the original video — it saves a second, smaller copy.

Are my videos uploaded to a server?

No. Compression runs entirely on your device using Apple's media frameworks. Your videos are never sent to us or to anyone else. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture.

I compressed a video but my storage didn't go down. Why?

Because at that moment you have both copies — the original and the smaller one. Space is only freed when the originals are deleted, which is the button offered on the results screen. Until you do that, your library is temporarily a little bigger.

I deleted the originals and want them back.

Open Photos → Albums → Recently Deleted. iOS keeps deleted items there for about 30 days, and you can recover them from that album. After that window they are gone permanently, so it is worth checking the compressed copy before deleting anything you care about.

Which quality should I choose?

The app offers Low, Medium and High. High keeps the most detail and saves the least space; Low saves the most and is best for clips you just want to keep or send. Whatever you pick, use Compare on the results screen — it puts the original and the compressed copy side by side, or lets you flip between them — before deciding to delete anything.

Some of my videos are in iCloud. Does that work?

Yes. If a selected video isn't stored on the device, the app downloads it from iCloud first and shows the progress, then continues to the compression settings. This needs a network connection and can take a while for large clips.

The compressed file is barely smaller — or even bigger.

That happens when the source is already efficiently encoded, for example a short clip that was compressed before or exported from another app. Try a lower quality setting; if the result still isn't worth it, use Discard result on the results screen to remove the new copy and keep only the original.

How do I restore a purchase on a new device?

Sign in with the same Apple Account, open the app's settings and tap Restore Purchases. Subscriptions and the lifetime unlock are tied to your Apple Account, not to a device.

How do I cancel my subscription?

On your device: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Video Compressor → Cancel Subscription. Cancelling at least 24 hours before the period ends stops the next renewal; you keep access until the current period runs out. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

Can I get a refund?

Purchases go through Apple, so refunds are Apple's to grant. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. If something went wrong in the app, tell us too — we'd like to fix it.

How much can I use for free?

A number of compressions are free, and the app shows how many you have left. Beyond that, a subscription or the one-time lifetime unlock removes the limit.
